Breed Notes

News from last week came from Val Geddes who had another good day at the local Oswestry Open Show, held at Park Hall Showground near to the town.
An entry of 20+ collies waited on the judgment of Mike Light (Michrisme) who found not only his BPIB but also BOB winner in Ingledene Sno Angel who is nearly  9 months old. Taking reserve BOB was another local exhibitor, Mary Stevens with her tri lady, Indi, Boughlee Sheza Star and she certainly was, as just after her 8th birthday, she who won a lovely Open class and RBOB Following on BOB, Val also gained G3 from Judge Sharon Bowen, so a lovely day out for all at a favourite showground in the area.

Very many thanks to all who phoned and messaged following the judging at Leeds. A memorable day for a few. Edith Pryor (Aqualita) was the judge at Leeds. This was her 2nd time awarding CC’s to both sexes, the last time being at 3 Counties in 2014 although Edith has judged a couple of single sex club shows and stewarding for her was our very own Derek Allsopp who judged last week at NWPBDS.

Her entry was made up of 34 males and 42 bitches, only 4 of which were marked absent. All the higher classes were well filled, only the lower classes were in single figures.

Starting with MPD, Gemheid Troubleshooter took this class for Heidi Gallagher; he is by Wicani Invoking Spirit out of Gemheid Call Me Trouble
Puppy was won by Jards Ring Presence for Janine Hanson, sired by Corydon The Ringleader out of Ingledene Ebony and Lace

Afterglow Invocation took the junior class of 2, for Angela Harvey. Bred by Mike Gadsby and Jason Lynn, he is another Invoking Spirit son but out of Wicani Hot Property of Afterglow.

Post Grad was a new boy to me, Eden of Phenomenon at Intermittent Lake, imported from Slovenia by Mrs. P Leslie from Angus, Scotland. Sired by Good Luck for Life in Sherborne out of Calypso Goddess Silence at Intermittent Lake. Bred by Mihela Debevec, he was born August 2018.

Limit was won by Brooklynson El Dorado, by Moondance with Jaysur out of Ch Brooklynson Miley Cyrus. Bred by Alison Barrett (according to the catalogue) he is owned jointly by Marianne Benton and Nick and Anne Smith. He is now just 4.5 years old.

Jo White took Open with the recently crowned Odin, whoi details were given recently.

Triforce Dragon Heart won Veteran for Rachel Thorne, now nearly 9 years young, he was born in September 2012 by Wicani Dragonsblood out of Willosyam Nightspell at Impenzie.
There was a mixed Special Beginners class of 2, headed by Essenjay Fields of Gold for Mrs. J Leese, bred by Mr. & Mrs. Williams. Sired by Essenjay Dark Moon Rising out of Ingledene Seasons In The Sun at Essenjay and he had previously taken 3rd in Post Grad.

Now to the CC, taking his first, after 2 rcc wins was Pedro, Brooklynson El Dorado for Marianne, Nick and Anne Smith. Nick heard the news whilst still in Spain sitting by the pool – what a way to hear good news! Also to hear that their smooth collie had also won the DCC, so many congratulations to all concerned.

RCC and I think the first major award in this breed for “Afterglow” was Angela Harvey and Afterglow Invocation. BPD went to Heidi Gallagher and her MP

In bitches, Duna and Josh won MP with the tricolour, Erjon Ebony Jewels, handled by Josh and her details were published recently

Ambartr Eternal Spirit won the puppy class of 2, she is another by Invoking Spirit but out of Ambartr Eternal Light and is owned by Mr. & Mrs. Colin Bartram.

Stacy Steven bred the junior bitch winner of Cambrogan Lady of Loch’aber at Cariadhaf owned by Margaret Harrison; her details were also given recently but what a great day to celebrate your birthday, and for Stacy, whose birthday it was, there was more to come!

Post Grad, a class of 16, was won by Cambrogan Blowin’ A Hoolie, for Stacy Steven. She was born Nov 2018 by Cariadhaf Crazy Dream out of Cariadhaf Cookies and Cream for Cambrogan, but according to the results sheet I have seen, only 4 were placed!

Limit, a class of 6 with 2 absent, so only 4 could be placed was won by Thistlewing Harp String won for Brenda Welsh; she is by Karafaye Scotch Blend out of Yenroc Scottish Harmony.

In Open, a class of 8, with 1 absent, again only 4 were placed. The winner being Brooklynson Jane Russell of Oakestelle, owned solely by Marianne Benton. She is out of Brooklynson Joanna and sired by Brooklynson James Bond and was born in November 2014.

A full class of 5 veterans, were all placed, with Wicani Enraptured winning this for Angela and Keith Harvey. Born March 2013 she is sired by Van-M Goodfellow at Wicani out of Wicani Wears Red.

Taking the BCC, her 2nd, was the Open winner, Brooklynson Jayne Russell for Oakestelle. Her first was won at WKC back in 2016 from Steve Hall (Shendene) and the RBCC to Wicani Enraptured, who already had 1 CC (Kari Jarvinen at Southern Counties in 2019) BPB went to Duna and Josh.

BOB went to the Marianne’s bitch, BPIB to Heidi Gallagher, with the RBCC winner taking BVIB

In all, quite an interesting day, with congratulations to Steve & Alison Barrett for breeding both CC winners and also to Keith and Angela for taking both Rcc’s with their Wicani bred stock.
