Breed Notes

Our first General Championship show was held at the Newbury showground and under full Covid regulations. The show layout differed from the usual but all appeared to enjoy the day out, none more so than our BOB winner, Jo White with her homebred blue merle dog.  I have to thank Jo for sending me over the pages for the entry of 65, judged by Toni Jackson (Elbereth) on her first CC appointment for our breed, although she is already an established judge in other breeds and the group.

There were a few absent from the lower classes in both sexes and the first class, and BPD went to Alfsden He Lives In You, owned by Milligan and Marley.
Sired by Ladnar Must Tri Harder out of Ladnar Trust In Me at Alfsden and born 23rd Dec 2020.
Welanga Winters Carol via Capriora stood alone in Junior for Corben & Moore (Highnol Echoes In The Night Mist for Welanga ex Highnol Heaven Can Wait with Welanga.

Post Grad was a nice class won by Camanna Chasingclouds over Mejola for Jo White, bred by Anne Hassock; he is sired by Ch Erjon Ebony Joker out of Camanna Cool Rain.

Simon and Hannah bred the Limit winner of Hanvale Arthur Shelby with Damos for Ellie Fuller Ellie did handle in the challenge. (Ch Beldones Double Diamond ex Ch Beldones La Vita Bella for Hanvale JW)

Jo took Open with Odin and with it his 3rd and crowing CC. He will now be known as Ch Mejola Fate and Fortune SCEx. Sired by Ch Corydon Once In A Blue Moon out of Jo’s Corydon Femme Fatale for Mejola. On the way to his title he has collected quite a few Rcc’s but his first CC came in 2019 from Bob Gay (Yagane) at the National and his 2nd the same year from Richard Kinsey (Kitarn) at Three Counties. Odin is the second Ch for Jo and her small Mejola kennel and this win must have been a great boost to Jo, who has had some difficulties recently with family illness and dog related problems but I am sure all that will be forgotten now.

Veteran was a mixed class, with Pelido David Weir representing the males having only been beaten by 2 bitches.

A delighted John Tipper rang, and thank you so much, with news that he has piloted Aerial to the BCC for long time friend Monika Bardos. She is officially known as Hungarian/Int Ch Tiganlea Make Good Time. She certainly made an impression on me as I awarded her the Yearling class at Crufts back in 2019. She is sired by Ch Tiganlea Too Good To Be Forgotten out of Hazelnut des Vergers de Iacchos and was born in September 2017 and is, I understand over here for a showing holiday from Hungary where she and Monika live.
Puppy Bitch was won, along with BPIB and the RBCC by John & Val Geddes with their blue merle, Ingledene Sno Angel. (Ingledene Well Sooted ex Ingledene Sno Wanda) I understand that Val was unable to stay for the puppy group, having had a long day before, judging at the Smooth Collie of The Year Competition and is also expecting a litter soon.

Di Ware made the long journey from Exeter with her junior, Wassail Call The Midwife (Stonehaven Pride Golden Touch at Salsina ex Kind of Magic Della Bucca delle Fate at Wassail) she was born in April 2020.

Val Tame took PG with Riverside Song Extra Sweet at Rahlissa (Imp Rom) who is sired by Fr Ch Jealous Guy du Clos de Sea-Wind ex Riverside Song Julia and bred by Olivia Cruscov.

Hanvale Polly Shelby, sister to the RDCC winner won Limit for Hannah & Simon.

To sum up, Dog CC and his title, Mejola Fate and Fortune, RDCC Hanvale Arthur Shelby with Damos, BCC Monika Bardos and Ch Tiganlea Make Good Time, RBCC and BPIB, Ingledene Sno Angel.  Best Veteran went to Aniesh Forever Blue with Whatacoo for Cook & Watkins who also won Best Special Beginners.
