Breed Notes
17th December
News for all who have been waiting for a Breed Appreciation Day, Jointly the Collie Club of Wales and Midland Collie are hoping to run a BAD/MCE Seminar on February 27th at Edingale Village Hall,m 7 Moores Croft, Edingale, Tamworth B79 9LU. This is one that was cancelled due to the Covid Issues some time back.
Anyone interested in attending should contact either Secretary Christine Collins (Christine@triburle.com) or Hannah Walder (secretary@midlandcollieclub.co.uk) More details concerning this event are published on Collie Life.
Now to London & Provincial, they will now have a new Acting Secretary in Di Collino who has agreed to take over from retiring Sec Kate Arrowsmith who is returning to her Australian home in the New Year.
Cathy Jessop has contacted me, on behalf of Pat Corben, who went to Burton-on-Trent Open show recently and won BOB and G4 with Astromelias Ulises via Capriora, and was handled by Miss G Moore under judges Hazel Allsopp and Ian Sexton
Now to LKA, which this year I had to miss but firstly very many thanks to both Jo White and Julie Growcott who kept me “up to speed” with updates during the day. Your help is very much appreciated and please accept my thanks, not only for today but also during the year.
I understand the committee ladies coped well considering all the “Covid Requirements” enforced by the venue, the NEC. Also with numerous changes of judges over the two days.
Val Dyer (Javarm) was judging the Roughs after she had completed a previous breed, so it was not an early start for those who attended and was quite a long day for many. Val is well known in many circles and last judged at Richmond back in 2016 and prior to that at Bath and has had an interest in our breed for many years.
Her choice for the Dog CC, his 5th was Ch Samhaven Ballahanna Banjo owned by Alison Grainger and just to refresh your memory, he is bred by Liam Kelly and sired by Ch Samhaven Sound Track out of Samhaven From The Top Drawer and he won Open. Not content with winning in one breed, Alison also won BPIB with her St Bernard, Samhaven In The Press.
Winning the RDCC for Eileen Pullin was the Post Graduate winner, known at home as Kyro, Barrenclough Diamond Dawn at Myjacks. He is born November 2019 and bred by Dr Lynda Boyle. Sired by Barrenclough Diamond Days out of Barrenclough Touch of Thyme and I think this is his first major award.
Winning Veteran was Stacy Steven with Brodie, Cariadhaf Crazy Dream, already a RCC winner. He is bred by Margaret Harrison and sired by Kelmbri Gran Torino out of Jopium Love Is All Around Emryks.
Other class winners included MP with Gwen Beadon and Myriehewe London Calling (NAF); Melissa and Gataj Out of The Woods in Puppy, who was also BPIB. Junior and Yearling went to Lynda Boyle and Monsolana Aspire to Inspire Over Barrenclough (NAF); Limit was another for Melissa with Gataj Struck By Lightning.
In bitches, it was a 6th CC for Eva, Ch Jopium Love Heart, whose breeding is well known to us all and she won Open, with the RCC going to Melissa Lockyear who had an excellent day winning 6 x 1st, Best Puppy and the RBCC. Her Gataj Girls Best Friend won Limit and the RCC. She is homebred, born in December 2017 by Ch Beldones Double Diamond out of Takhisis Hopes and Dreams at Gataj, who now holds her Ch title. Veteran and eventual BVIB went to Sophie and her Beldones Duchess of Dreams. Other class winners were: Ladnar Izadorable for Dave & Sue Randall; Gataj Good Time Girl won Puppy, whilst Riverside Song Glory of Love for Gataj (Imp Rom) took Yearling and her kennel mate, Gataj Honey Bee won PG all for Melissa who had to find handlers for all her class winners.
So ended show No 33 of this year and a full review will follow over the Christmas break.
Wishing you all a Healthy and Happy Christmas, a Prosperous 2022 and I look forward to attending more shows and meeting up again.
