Breed Notes
10th December, 2021

Now to the British Collie, under the guidance of new Secretary, Margaret Shipp, who very kindly sent down a copy of the show catalogue. Duna Jones, as retiring Secretary was also present in the final “handover”.

The entry for the show, held at the usual venue of Overseal Village Hall, was much smaller than normal for Judge Angela Coulson, Bluchip, as this was the re-arranged show following on from the recent lockdowns and Covid restrictions.

In all there were just 34 entries for Roughs. Smooths were judged by Tina May (Maqueeba). There was a change to the scheduled BIS/Referee from Val Tame, who recently lost her husband, to Anne Smith, Tentola.

Sophie Wray, newly elected Health Co-Coordinator, for the RCBC had an extremely good day as she won the first class, a mixed Veteran with her Beldones Duchess of Dreams and also ended up Best Bitch and BV.

Other class winners included: Lillyway Lemonade Crush (MP); Monsolana Aspire to Inspire Over Barrenclough NAF Imp Russia for Lynda Boyle who won Junior, Maiden and Novice.  Graduate was won by Essenjay Against All Odds for Mrs K Phillips and he also won PG. Limit went to Robin Blaikie and his blue, Kourika King Pin whilst Sophie won Open with Takhisis Dream Weaver, a son of the BVB. Best Dog went to Robin and “Gio”; RBD to Dream Weaver.

The first class of bitches went to the MP of Julie Growcott, Lillyway Lemon Breeze. Miranda Blake won PB and Novice with Corydon Belle Époque; The Randall’s took Maiden with Ladnar Izadorable. Uffspring Ultravox won Graduate for Miss Rose; Limit went to another owned by Julie Growcott with Lillyway Lemonade Blush and Open was won by Jane Margetts and her blue, Lynmead Lemonade for Collingvale JW.

Best Bitch went to Sophie and Beldones Duchess of Dreams, with Julie Growcott and her Lillyway Lemonade Blush, in reserve. BOB went to Robin and the blue rough boy, whilst Sophie annexed Reserve BOB and BVIB, and Julie Growcott with Lillyway Lemon Breeze as BPIS. The in show awards all went to the “rough” fraternity and so ended the day for all

Although I have not been contacted, on the same day as BCC, Melissa Lockyer and her Gataj gang went to a nearer show for them, being based in the West Country and came away with some good results at the Exonian Open Show, held near Exeter. Reg Ware, Wassail, was the breed judge and her “Woody”, known as Gataj Out of the Woods gained 1st in Puppy, Gataj Good Time Girl 1st PG, Riverside Song Glory Of Love For Gataj 2nd OB. BOB however went to Donna Baker with Tiganlea Good Luck Trinket for Marilake, then Woody went on to get BPIP and RBOB, the under judge Peter Boot, with PPG1 and Best Reserve Best Of Breed. In Group, then under Judge Mrs Vanessa Williams Wegmann, Woody went on to get RBPIS!
