Breed Notes I received a message from Peter and Pamela Savage (Savataurus) concerning their tricolour boy, Savatauris’s Only The Lonely, known at home as Solo. They write to confirm that he has recently received his Veteran Warrant by winning at the Scarborough & Otley Open show recently, Born in March 2008, by Wicani What’s New Pussycat out of Gedespa Good at Savataurus (Ch Chrisarion Collier ex Carristina Silver Spirit). He has waited all through the pandemic, being exercised daily by Peter to keep him “in form”. It was good to see him at the recent Bournemouth Ch show where he won BVD – well done to all and maybe he is one of the first Vet Warrant winners to claim this title since shows commenced. He also holdsthe following Irish Title, Vet Ch CVW19 and can now add the UK VW to his name Now to Bournemouth, another show for us in the south but held on a Monday which depletes any entry, especially at this venue which is devoid of motorways for those travelling from afar. However, like Paignton, Roughs still featured in the top four for entries in the Pastoral group for well known judge, Anne Hassock. Anne has the Camanna kennel in Redcar and is well known for producing many champions, especially tricolours. Her last appointment was at Scottish Breeds in 2019 and she judged the dogs at Crufts in 2014 Her choice for the DCC was the blue merle, Ollie, better known as Oakland Blue Style du Clos de Sea-Wind at Zolkhan, owned by Michelle McCann from Scotland who had decided to take a caravan holiday, with husband Jim and take in the show as part of their break and what a great decision that was. I bet the journey back to Kilmarnock passed by quickly! He is sired by Hot Chocolate du Clos de Sea-Wind out of I Have a Dream Blue de Clos de Sea-Wind, bred in France by Mr. & Mrs. Mervant and was born in February 2018. This is his 1st CC but he has already collected a few Rcc’s before today and he won the Limit class of 6. Another with Scottish connections annexed the RDCC, but owned by John Congdon. This was Starlenga All That Jazz from Aaronwell, a tricolour, bred by the Walker/Ritchie family in Scotland. Sired by John’s Jive, who took the Open class on the day, out of Nelinka De Remember Our Love for Starlenga (Imp Fra) and he won PG and another Starlenga bred by, Starlenga Elijah Blue at Gataj too Junior for Melissa Lockyer. Both the MP and PD dog classes were won by John Tipper, with Tiganlea Twist and Turn and Tiganlea True Hero. Chelborn That’ll Do took Graduate for Vanessa and Peter Savage won Veteran with Savataurus’s Only The Lonely handled by Pamela. John Tipper continued winning classes, this time, MPB with Tiganlea True Hearts Desire, a sister to T Twist and Turn. Winning puppy, handled as usual by Josh Blackburn was the well known tricolour Erjon Ebony Jewels. Josh and Duna won Open with their blue Erjon Exclusively Special and Carole & Jim Smedley took Veteran with Ch Antoc Soul Diva. Anne had the pleasure of awarding the BCC to the 8 month puppy, Erjon Ebony Jewels, this time handled by Duna and you had to be there to see the expression on her face as she accepted the big green card. “Known at home as Mad Maisie she was automatically BPB and BPIB and for once it was the owner bouncing up and down whilst the bitch stood camly! Reserve BCC went to John and his limit winner.
