Rough Collie
Breed Notes 30th April 2021

Now back to the main talking point of the week – EACA joint shows. There have been many comments re the very hard work all the Committee did beforehand and on behalf of everyone, I am sure you all wish to thank them for their efforts especially to Mark & Cathy Howard, who got up extra early, arrived at the venue and marked out all the car spaces and they are not on Committee but felt as they lived close to venue, they wished to help out and to everyone else Thank you

BIS at the Ch show was the sable dog of Melissa Lockyer, RBIS, BVIS and BOSIS to Stefani Flower and her sable lady. BPIS was won by Miranda Blake’s, Corydon The Grandmaster, handled by father John.

David Knights (Lelaps) judged the three SAC classes and found his winners in the Smooth, Wynele Cover Girl (Spl Puppy); Shandlemain Blu Chief, another smooth won Post Grad and Open was taken by Serenlas Pagan Moon, a daughter of the BCC winner.

Mick Taylor also judged the Special Stakes classes, held in memory of Barbara Blake and winning this was Lorraine Quince, from Scotland and her sable, Thistlewing Celtic Soul for Karafaye, bred by Brenda Welsh. He is sired by Karafaye Scotch Blend at Thistlewing out of Yenroc Scottish Harmony at Thistlewing.
Now to the Open Show, held a little later than the Ch Show with the judge, Penny Forster-Cooper (Sheltysham). Again a similar entry numerically to the Ch show with a few opting to attend just the Open show and a few showing different dogs to those entered at the Ch show. Apart from a few “teething troubles” which hopefully will be addressed for future dual events, many exhibitors found them selves moving quickly from each of the large rings to be present in their correct ring!
BIS here was the smooth, Marianne Benton’s Oakestelle Venus De Milo, a daughter of Ch Alopex Marionette of Oakestelle, Piper, to give her a pet name, and she was presented with a massive rosette, from the EACA, in recognition of all the wins she has had over the years and was retired by her sporting owner.

Best Dog was Ellie Fuller and Hanvale Arthur Shelby with Damos (Ch Beldones Double Diamond ex Ch Beldones La Vita Bella for Hanvale). In reserve was Sophie Wray-Ramsden with Takhisis Trick or Treat (Ch Beldones Black Illusion ex Takhisis Lady Natasha). Best Puppy Dog was Corydon The Grandmaster for Miranda with John & Caroline Tipper taking BMPD with Tiganlea True Hero. (Chantique Star Dust ex Tiganlea Too Good To Be True). Best Veteran went to Lizmark Gold Standard ShCm for Liz Hull (Amalie Exotic Lover ex Lizmark Lookin’ Fab)

Bitches were headed by Mejola Main Attraction for Jo White (Ch Mejola I Am Persuasive ex Mejola Fata Attraction). RBB won from Junior for Jane Spendelow and Uffspring Unstoppable. (Samhaven Tri Cities ex Tiganlea Twinkling Light Over Uffspring). BPB was Thistlewing Spell On You for Brenda Welsh (Culbrae Red Again ex Thistlewing Octavia) with Val Geddes taking BMP with Ingledene Sno Angel (Ingledene Well Sooted ex Ingledene Sno Wanda) BVB was Aniesh Misty Blue Moon of Siluto for the Whittaker’s (Jealous Guy of Slatestone ex Aniesh Blue Mist)

BOB was Hanvale Arthur Shelby who ended up with RBIS and BOSIS, BPIS to Corydon The Grandmaster  making it a wonderful day for him as this is his first and last puppy class and all at his first show!. BVIB Rough was Lizmark Gold Standard who was also RBVIS.

Doug Bedford (Chateaunewf) judged the 3 SAC classes and found his winner in the smooth, Wynele Cover Girl who took Puppy D/B; Shandlemain Blu Chief, another smooth for Cathy Howard who won PG D/B and Open was won by the Rough Thistlewing Harp String. Interesting to note that in both SAC classes at both shows, the Puppy and PG winners were smooths and the Open classes were won by Roughs whilst at both shows BP went to the same dog – Kasper.

Finally, as the shows hopefully start up, a plea for your Breed Notes, could you please remember to let me know of your wins! Just a text message or via social media, otherwise I shall assume that you are not proud of your achievements or think I do have a crystal ball. From the joint shows, only one person actually contacted me – says a lot for the first show for over 13 months.
