Breed Notes
2nd April

The news everyone is discussing, yes, the cancellation of Crufts! Sad, but in my humble opinion, it is the only sensible answer to the situation at present. One has to feel for not only the judges for our breed, but for so many others who may never get the opportunity again. Although the KC have stated that will endeavour to re-arrange these most prestigious appointments. My thoughts are with them, along with all the ancillary workers, stewards, trade stands and of course the Crufts committee.

Speculation still abounds regarding the rest of shows and having received a list of those still planned to go ahead, (no doubt it will change like the weather) I  think many will be resorting to adding their entry fees to the plastic.

If all goes ahead, we still have 3 gen Ch shows for July (Windsor, East of England and National Working Breeds); August is already pretty full with Bath, Paignton, Bournemouth, Blackpool and Driffield. September shows include Richmond, Darlington and Birmingham. Whilst in October the 2 SKC shows, Border Union, Wkg Breeds of Wales, South Wales and Midland Counties. The last three are to be held indoors. November currently has Wkg Breeds of Scotland (No CC’s for Roughs) and December has LKA.

If entry fees are to be gauged against some already published at approx £30 per dog it will be more expensive and I do wonder how many will be able to afford them especially when it would appear that many entries will be closing together.
Maybe only those who have not put part of their puppy sales money back into their kennels, or bought new equipment will have money sitting in the bank!

When and where Breed Clubs will be able to fit in their own shows is becoming more and more difficult with shows being cancelled and dates changing it really is a minefield now for all.

Finally, some heartfelt thanks from Roz Makepeace, Debbie, Brad and Shannon to all for the kindness, cards and flowers sent in respect of Barry, whose funeral took place last Friday. Roz will be contacting all much later so please give her time to adjust.
