My interest in the Rough Collie started when my parents acquired a gorgeous Sable boy. Up until then I had admired them but never thought I would have one of my own. As I grew to know this Collie I fell in love with not only his handsome looks but his gentleness and intelligence. It wasn't long after this that I bought my first Collie, Belle, who is now nearly six years old. I intended to breed from Belle but, due to a medical problem, couldn't fulfil this dream so instead bought my second Collie, Willow.

It was also at this time that I got to know another Collie-mad lady who lived locally and we became very good friends. We realised we had the same ethics and plans regarding breeding these beautiful dogs, which was to produce healthy puppies free of the genetically inherited problems that are passed on from generation to generation.

We are now both fully committed to breeding Rough Collies who are clear/non carriers of Collie Eye Anomaly, Degenerative Myelopathy, Progressive Retinal Atrophy and the MDR1 gene variant/Invermectin sensitivity.

We are passionate in our work to not only preserve the Rough Collie but continue the work of the breeder who had the foresight to realise that these diseases had to be eradicated, and even imported Collies from the USA and other countries to introduce completely new bloodlines. She has formed the foundation for a number of breeders (including myself) to continue her legacy of putting healthy genes back into this breed to produce Collies fit not just for the show-ring but as working dogs or family pets, for future generations to enjoy.
