It was love at first sight when I first met a Collie! I was totally smitten with the grace and elegance and gentle nature of this particular collie I met and it started a lifelong love for and interest in the breed. It was 1978 and I was 12 and boys could never compete with Collies! Since then we (first with my parents and later with my husband) have only bred a small number of litters but we have been lucky to have achieved some lovely wins and, more importantly, enjoyed having Collies as our companions. We have owned and bred a number of Norwegian Champions (where our affix ‘Freelancer’ was first registered in 1981) plus Champions in Britain, most notably the all time breed record holder Ch Phreelancer Phrosty Moon over Corydon who was also BOB at Crufts in 2000/2001/2002/2004. This year, 20 years later, his descendant Ch Phreelancer Phaith Hill had the honour of being awarded BOB at Crufts – truly a day to remember and a dream come true! Our puppies are born and bred in our home, they are well socialised and we expose them to everyday household activities to stimulate their development, including a piano! We pride ourselves on and strive for our puppies to be happy and healthy individuals, leaving them ready for their new forever homes and families.
