WECS Championship Show 06.07.14 – 2nd Mid Limit (Judge Mr R Gay)
Leeds Championship Show 26.07.14 – 1st in Limit Bitch (Judge Mrs C Casling)

Critique of Judge Mrs C Casling: LB (12.4) 1 Lockyer’s Gataj Willow Of Surprises – Beautiful S/S head of correct proportions, good eye placement, well filled muzzle, she has a soft dreamy expression especially when she uses her ears, sound in shoulder with good front and deep chest, nice reach of neck, in fact well put together overall, she moves with style, considered her for the RCC but preferred the more refined head of the other one, but another day who knows.

Bournemouth Championship Show 10.08.14 – 1st Limit Bitch (Judge Mrs E Kitchen)
Critique of Judge Mrs E Kitchen -  LB (7) 1 Lockyer’s Gataj Willow Of Surprises – Lovely shaded/s, put down to the minute, a new one to me, but of lovely make and shape, balance all over, with neat short hocks, tight feet, head is lovely, good under jaw, nicely rounded foreface, good stop, dark eyes, ears right on top, giving her a feminine expression, another that was sound on the move.

On 31.01.2015 at the  British Collie Club - Rough Collie Of The Year 2014 Willow took first place in the Bitch section and went on to gain RCOTY Runner Up 2014 overall in a close contest, narrowly missing out on the top award by just two points.

All at Gataj would offer sincere and grateful thanks to judges Merv Casling, Jayne Llewellyn and Maureen Thompson for honouring us with this tremendous award.

We would also thank everyone, friends old and new, for their very kind comments and words of encouragement which all helped to make the weekend so special and one that will never be forgotten.

Working And Pastoral Breeds Association Of Wales 2015 – 1st in Limit Bitch. Judge Mr B Croft.
Critique of Mr B Croft: -  Limit /B (9) 1a better class with little between the first two! 1st Lockyer, Gataj Willow of Surprises, rich sable that really appealed to my eye loved her breed type shape and balance, feminine with a super head stylish and in cracking form sound easy action I would think CC quality.

WECS Open Show 2015 – 1st in Limit Bitch, RBB, RBOB. Judge Ms C Proctor.

Lancs And Cheshire Collie Club – 3rd Limit Bitch. Judge Mrs M E Blake-Watts.

Smooth Collie Club Of Great Britain – 1st Limit Bitch, BB, BOB and RBIS. Judge Mrs J Stevens.
Critique of Mrs J Stevens - Limit Bitch: 1. Lockyer’s Gataj Willow of Surprises – have admired this bitch from the ringside and was not disappointed on handling her. Almost 5 years old mahogany sable, an ideal combination of substance and femininity. Head handles well, with a melting expression, rounded muzzle, good bite with clean teeth, correctly placed stop, dark almond eyes, neat ears which she could be persuaded to use, flat back skull. Correct height to length ratio gives her a very attractive shape, with straight front legs, neat feet and good bone, correct length of upper arm, well sprung ribs, level topline with the correct rise over the loin, finished with a good bend of stifle, strong second thigh and short hocks enabling her to move positively both ways and have excellent reach when viewed from the side. She floated around the ring and could work as long as you needed her to. Immaculate presentation completed the picture and I wish, with all my heart, that she were mine. BB, BOB, RBIS.

Windsor Dog Show Society – 2nd Limit Bitch. Judge Mrs C A Smedley.

WECS Championship Show – 2nd Limit Bitch. Judge Mrs V Tame.

L & P Ch Show - 2nd Open Open - Judge Mrs J Gay - 6 year old shaded s/w. Very pretty, slightly shorter head with the most gorgeous dark eye & expression. Filled foreface & rounded muzzle, flat skull with good ear placement & carriage. Good neck, shoulder & rib. Beautiful feminine outline, well angulated & with a level topline. Superbly presented as were all from this kennel. Moved very well

GATAJ JUBILEE OF SURPRISES

June 2013 - Brooke was 3rd in Junior Bitch, Three Counties Championship Show, Judge Mr M Shutt

Grateful thanks to Miss Miranda Blake for awarding us the RBCC at National Working and Pastoral Breeds 2013.

‘I’m sorry but I can’t resist the pun – I bet she did not expect the RCC! This was another goosebumps moment for me. There was some tough competition in this class, but this young sable was one I would be proud to own – she had everything I aim for in my kennel. A lovely elegant shape, correct fitting coat with enough frills to flatter rather than swamp her outline, what a delightful head – balanced, moulded, flat skull, correct stop, super sweet eye & expression, I prayed that she could move & my prayers were answered.

Although he stood alone in this class he was more than worthy of his first place.

London Collie Club October 2018
2 & half year old Tricolour dog with superb jet-black coat in excellent condition, groomed to the high standard I now expect from this kennel. An expression of masculinity and handsomeness so hard to achieve with the head on tricolours, that when you see it, it blows you away. I could ramble on with ‘good this’ and ‘good that’, but ultimately there was nothing I didn’t like. Everything I want in a dog was here, and to round off the picture he moved like he owned the ring. How could I not award him B.O.B, and without hesitation my co-judge agreed he was B.I.S.

Bournemouth 2018

My star of the day, just m y type of bitch.   A sable bitch of the highest quality, she came and conquered.   She epitomises the Rough Collie Breed Standard.   Perfectly balanced with good body, her head is of a nice length, well filled in foreface with a good underjaw.   Stop is as required and with her neat ears sitting right on top she had the sweetest expression.   Good neck, shoulders and a lovely front and top line which she held on the move.   Well angulated at the rear and lovely neat feet, she moved as I thought she would covering the ground with such ease.   Another that was groomed to perfection and I had no hesitation in awarding her the CC and later the Referee (Mrs Sandra Wigglesworth) awarded her BOB and BIS.

MPD (3) 1 Lockyer’s Gataj Out of the Woods. Must say I really liked this young fella as soon as he entered the ring. He has such a lovely outline that shows promise of good things to come. Glamorous markings. Sweet dark eye, head that handles well with neat well shaped ears. Enough length of back enabling him to move out well covering the ground with ease. Beautifully groomed and presented. If he continues developing along these lines he should do well. Will follow his career with interest. Again with the agreement of my co-judge BPD BP BPIB and BPIS.

CC of Wales Open Show 2022
22 month golden sable in full coat. Good clean head with well set, neat ears. He has a nicely sized and shaped eye, giving a lovely soft expression. Good length of back with correct topline. Well angulated to the rear. Presented in the same spotless condition as the other exhibits from this kennel today. On the move, he was light on his feet, covering the ring efficiently and unphased by the floor surface. I was happy to be able to go on to award him BD and BOB, and he was subsequently awarded BIS by Mrs Collins against the smooth. On the day, the movement of both my BD and BB was excellent but this boy got me with his expression. BD/BOB/BIS

Moved very steady and true in all directions with correct tail set. To be critical I would like more neck and his ears are a little swamped by coat on his head which can easily be corrected.

CH GATAJ STRUCK BY LIGHTNING. He has an instant bond with his handler, they work well together, and you can see they both adore each other so the dog was relaxed and pulled out all the stops today to win DCC and BOB. He really filled my eyes, well balanced outline there is nothing stuffy or exaggerated about him. His head is clean with correct planes, ears well placed and used. Super front assembly, ample chest, well off for bone without being too heavy set. A wellarched neck which was enhanced by his correct fitted coat which was groomed to the skin and flowed as he moved.

The perfect amount of body weight kept him light and easy on his feet, moved well in all directions with the correct tail set. He looked so well in the big ring. A well-deserved win in very good company

Ch Gataj Turn Back Time JW

Scottish Breeds 2025
Lockyer’s CH. GATAJ TURN BACK TIME JW.  The temperament of this dog is second to none, he is such a happy friendly lad.  To me, he has yet to reach his prime (despite already having his title).  His head properties are so endearing, lovely moulding with a sweet expression, ears always used well.  Flows from lovely length of neck, onto good body shape, lovely front.  Good spring of ribs to gentle rise over the loin. Has a good bend of stifle, nice parallel hocks and lovely length to that ever wagging tail.  Moved out freely and with ease, deserves his title and I really feel not yet reached maturity. Appeared to be inbetween coats, and could not compete in this department with the winners. Called in for the RCC but had to bow to the two lads in full coat and condition.  This is the temprement and personality to strive for when breeding.
