West of England Collie Society Open Show 16th September 2017


I would like to thank the committee for inviting me to this lovely welcoming and friendly show and for all their hard work making it run smoothly, and for their hospitality and lovely lunch. Thank you to my stewards for keeping things running smoothly and most of all to the exhibitors for allowing me to go over their lovely dogs and for taking my decisions so sportingly, some very difficult choices between some lovely dogs.
VD 2 (1a)
1st & BVD Cronk’s Chelborn Decision: 7 yr S/W of a good size, good length of neck and back, correct stop, nice eye, reluctant to use his ears, shown in good clean coat move ok.

MPD 1
1st Broadhead’s Rahlissa Only Make Believe: good size 7 mth s/w masculine puppy with lovely head parallel planes with correct stop, dark almond eye, ears well placed and he used them giving him a sweet expression, good length of neck nicely arched going into well angulated shoulder and upper arm, well boned straight legs and neat feet, good length of back and well set on tail, well sprung rib and plenty of heart room, well bent stifle, neat hocks,  correct proportions throughout, a lovely puppy he was in immaculate presentation and such a happy baby he moved out fine fore and aft he just needs a bit more time, will watch his progress with interest.

1st  & BPD Benton’s Brooklynson El Dorado: 10 mth s/w a different type to MPD, head of correct planes blunt wedge with perceptible stop, dark almond eye correctly placed, ears well set and used to advantage, good underjaw and dentition, nice arched neck, well angulated shoulder and upper arm, good length of back, depth and spring of rib, tail well set on and carried well, nice bend of stifle and strong hocks, well presented,  and his movement around the ring was powerful and effortless keeping a level topline which gave him his BPD award.  I look forward to seeing this youngster as he matures.
2nd Rahlissa Only Make Believe

JD 1
1st & BD Cronk’s Chelborn Story Teller: 12½ mth Tri Stood alone but took nothing away from him, masculine upstanding and a good size, with a beautiful head of correct proportions, parallel planes and correct stop, well rounded muzzle, good underjaw and dentition, dark almond eye well placed and ears used to his advantage giving him the most melting expression he took my breath away, arched neck of good length into lovely angulated shoulder and upper arm, depth of brisket and spring of rib, strong legs with good bone and neat feet, correct length to height ratio, well set on tail carried well, in good firm condition throughout, well bent stifle, strong neat hocks, moved out true fore and aft with plenty of drive,  his lovely black coat gleaming in the sun just finished a lovely picture for me, he’s one to watch for the future.

1st & RBD Page’s Lynmead Amalie Bring me Back JW: 2yr shaded s/w have judged this lovely boy before and awarded him RBD then, head of correct proportions with correct stop, good dark almond eye well placed and ears well placed and used all the time, good underjaw and correct dentition, arch of neck and back of good length, well angulated shoulder and upper arm, good bend of stifle and short neat hocks, well set on tail carried low, moves effortlessly around the ring he makes a lovely picture, presented in immaculate coat.

PGD 1
1st Page’s Lynmead Amalie Let Me Go: 4 yr shade s/w nice head with correct stop, good underjaw and correct dentition, decent length neck and back, good angulation front and rear, well sprung rib, well set on tail carried correctly, good bend of stifle and short neat hocks, moved out well fore and aft keeping his topline, well presented.

OD 3
1st Patman’s Pick Pocket Via Samhaven: 3½ yr s/w masculine but soft and gentle head of good length with parallel plains and correct stop, good underjaw and dentition, dark almond eye well placed and ears correct and used well giving him a lovely expression, lovely arched neck of good length going into well angulated shoulder and strong straight forelegs and neat feet, good depth of rib well sprung, strong back of good length with slight rise over the loin, well bent stifle and strong neat hocks, moved out well with plenty of drive and he kept his topline unlucky to meet the BD and RBD today.  Presented immaculately 
2nd Skinner’s Nikal It’s Gud To Be Black: 6½ yr tri another boy I have judged before, of good size and type, head of correct proportions with good underjaw and dentition, decent length of neck and back, good angulation and depth of rib, correct tail set, neat strong hocks he moved out well but did himself no favours today he wasn’t a happy boy and didn’t show the way I have seen him before. Well presented.

1st & BVB & BViB Patman’s Samhaven Candle Lite Flirt: 10½ yr s/w lovely to see one of our oldies out and really enjoying herself, pretty bitch with a lovely head with correct stop, dark eye correctly placed and ears used well giving her a sweet expression, good length of neck into well angulated shoulder and upper arm, neat feet, decent length of back and good spring of rib, well bent stifle and short neat hocks, she went around the ring with drive which belied her age she was in lovely condition and presented immaculately.

MPB 3 (1a)
1st BPB BPiB & BPiS Tame’s Rahlissa Charmaine: 8 mth s/w lovely sweet baby, she has a lovely shape and outline, head of good length with correct stop, well-shaped and placed dark eye, ears correctly placed and she used them to her advantage all going together to give a most desirable expression, good arch to her neck going into a well angulated shoulder and upper arm, straight legs with neat feet, good depth and spring of rib, nice length of back with slight rise over the loin, well bent stifle and short strong hocks her overall construction shows quality and she is one to really watch for the future, her movement was true in all directions with good reach and extension excellent presentation.
2nd Godber-Ford’s Gataj Addicted to Love: 8 mth tri very exuberant but nervous puppy, nice head with correct stop and good eye placement, she has a good length of neck and back but lacks substance in all ways she needs lots of time.

PB 3 (1a)
1st Randal’s Samhaven Hopeful at Ladnar: 11mth b/m lovely clear colour well broken, nice head and expression correct stop, well placed eye and ears which she used to her advantage, lovely long well arched neck and well angulated shoulder, good spring and depth of rib, good length of back well bent stifle and neat strong hocks, she covered the ring with ease, was attentive to handler and was presented immaculately.
2nd Scamp’s Stregato The Maleficent at Marketdene: 10½ mth s/w of a different type to 1st on the bigger side with a lovely outline and construction, head needs time to settle and develop, good eye placement and ears that she used well, nicely arched long neck and good angulation, long back and well bent stifle, she was very unsettled and just wanted to play today so her movement was erratic she needs time but she will be worth the wait.

1st & RBB McDade’s Fridens Captivation With Lyndale (Imp Rus): 14 mth b/m a quality bitch, lovely feminine head of the correct proportions making a blunt wedge with clean stop, dark almond eye well placed and ears used to her advantage, well filled muzzle and underjaw, arched neck of good length into well angulated and lay of shoulder and strong legs, neat tight feet, nice length of back into well bent stifle and short strong hocks, slight rise over the loin, well set on tail, clear blue coat nicely broken and in immaculate condition and presented in 1st class order, moved around the ring with ease and plenty of drive, I really like this youngster and she will only improve as time goes on.
2nd Legge’s Lynmead Sent With Love at Kalzan: 17mth shaded s/w bitch of smaller size, pretty bitch, fine in head and muzzle, correct stop, dark almond eye and well-placed ears which she used, fair length of neck and angulation all around, short hocks moved with drive, and was well presented.

2nd Legge’s Gatja Something About You For Kalzan: 19 mth tri lovely head on this bitch has nice expression difficult to obtain in some tri’s, decent length of neck and back, good lay of shoulder well angulated, well off for bone, depth of rib, good bend of stifle and neat hocks, coat in lovely condition and was immaculately presented, moved well.

1st BB, BOB & BIS Flower’s Serenlas Obsession: 4 yr shaded s/w quality bitch with lovely classic head, clean wedge with correct stop underjaw and dentition, dark almond eye well placed, ears used non-stop giving her a sweet alert expression, well balanced throughout good length of neck nicely arched into well angulated shoulder and upper arm, strong straight legs and neat tight feet, depth of brisket and spring of rib, length of back and strong loin with slight rise, well set on tail carried low, well bent stifle and short strong hocks, well developed first and second thigh this girl is in great firm condition and she could certainly do a day’s work, not in full coat but what she had hid nothing of her lovely shape and it was immaculate and shining, on the move she floated around the ring effortlessly and was a lovely sight to see her go, so attentive to her handler they worked as one.  Well done and well deserved.
2nd McDade’s Beldones Sweet Illusion: 22 mths s/w another pretty girl with feminine head with correct stop and good underjaw and dentition, dark eye well placed and ears used well giving her lovely expression, a good length of neck and back, well set on tail, well bent stifle and short neat hocks, on lovely condition and coat was presented immaculately, moved out well.
3rd Broadhead’s Rhodabern Whisper and Kiss

1st Legge’s Lynmead Amalie Bye Bye Love at Kalzan: 4 yr s/w standing alone today, pretty bitch with fine head and muzzle, correct stop, dark eye well placed and ears used, nice length of neck and back, and well bent stifle move out well presented well.

OB 4 (2a)
1st Rice’s Shandlmain Catchmykisses for Kevranna: 3yr tri with lovely construction and shape, head a well blunted wedge with correct stop, dark almond shaped eye well placed ears could be a little tighter, good underjaw and dentition, good length and arch of neck, into well angulated shoulder, spring of rib, nice length of back and well bent stifle short hocks moved out with drive, coat in great condition and excellent presentation.
2nd Scamp’s Jaysur Swing Time to Marketdene: 6 yr tri not in a happy place today not enjoying herself at all a shame as she is a lovely girl, classic head with correct stop well placed dark almond eye, ears not used at all, good length on neck and back, well set on tail, nicely angulated throughout.  Didn’t do herself justice today on the move just didn’t want to be there.
