Ayrshire Collie Club Open Show
Sunday 20th March 2016

I would like to thanks the Officers and Committee of the Ayrshire Collie Club for their kind invitation to judge their show.  This was my first breed show and I thoroughly enjoyed my day.  Thank you to the club for their kind hospitality and to my two stewards who kept things moving smoothly.  Finally, I’d like to thank the exhibitors for their entries and gracious acceptance of my decisions.

Minor Puppy Dog (4,2)
1st Blaikie’s Kourika Kosta Koffee
A lovely 8 month tri colour with the most appealing dark, almond shaped eye giving him a very sweet expression.  He has a clean wedge head, flat skull and a nicely moulded foreface.  Well placed ears which he used well.  He has a lovely shape and good angulation.  Moved well.  A very promising puppy presented in excellent condition.
2nd Johnson & Buchanan’s Sea Dreamer’s One and Only For Geosamka
8 month sable/white who was much finer than the winner.  Well placed ears, correctly placed stop and almond shaped eye.  Again, a lovely shape and well presented.

Puppy Dog (2,0)
1st Iley’s Lynmack Tommy Hilfiger
This 10 month sable/white dog took my attention as he entered the ring.  He was so attentive to his handler and stood and showed like a veteran.  He is a very handsome boy with well placed ears which he used constantly.  A nice clean head with correctly placed stop and shaped eye which gives him a lovely expression.  Good reach of neck, depth of chest and well sprung ribs.  A nicely fitting coat which was groomed to perfection.  Moved well and I was delighted to award him BPD and RBD.
2nd Fox & McGowan’s Alanita Acker Bilk for Westoak
10 month s/w with an abundance of coat which was beautifully groomed.  He has a beautiful expression.  Correct shaped eye, well placed stop and nice a flat skull.  Good reach of neck into well angulated shoulders.  Today his movement wasn’t as effortless as the winner.

Junior Dog (3,1)
1st Carmichael’s Kilchrenan Keltic Brier
A handsome 15 month tri who is well balanced and is full of character.  He has a well moulded foreface, lovely dark almond eye and correctly placed ears which he used well.  Very alert and attentive to his handler.  Good reach of neck, length of back and bend of stifle.  He moved with drive.  Beautifully presented.
2nd Fairgrieve’s Muldoanich Highland Laddie
Such a friendly 13 month s/w.  Much smaller than the winner today.    Nice clean head with a correctly placed stop and a sweet expression.  Moved well.

Yearling Dog (2,0)
1st Carmichael’s Kilchrenan Keltic Brier

On entering the ring I thought this boy would be my winner.  Nice clean wedge shaped with a well moulded foreface.  Well placed ears which he used and a correctly placed stop.  He has a beautiful expression.  Good reach of neck, well sprung ribs and good bend of stifle.  Two lovely dogs but on the day, I preferred the movement of the winner.

I was delighted to see this 2 year old s/w walk into the ring as it is no secret I am a fan of this young dog.  He has a well moulded foreface with a correctly placed stop, dark, almond shaped eye giving the most exquisite, melting expression but there’s no denying he is all male. Well placed ears which today he used constantly.  Good reach of neck, good spring of rib and depth of chest.  Well angulated both front and rear. Puppy Bitch (1,0)
1st McGill & Boyd’s Lynmack Edge of Glory at Stregato
Although this young lady stood alone in her class, she could not be denied her awards today.   Her overall shape and reach of neck instantly caught my eye.  She has the sweetest of expressions, lovely dark, almond shaped eye, correctly placed stop and a nice clean head.  Well placed ears which she used very well.  Her ribs are well sprung, good depth of chest and muscle tone.  She moved very well.  This was her first show at 9 months and she took everything in her stride.  She was presented in excellent condition and I was delighted to award her BPB and BPIS.

Junior Bitch (5,0)
1st Carmichael’s Kilchrenan Keltic Mist
A lovely 15 month blue Merle who is litter sister to junior dog winner.  She has a nice clean wedge shaped head and clear parallel lines from all angles.  Sweet expression and like her brother is very alert.  Well placed ears which she used constantly.  Well constructed which allowed her to move effortlessly round the ring.  Although her colour is not the clearest of blue, she is a very nice bitch and deserved her win today.
2nd McCarte’s Roughrigg Rita Ora
Another lovely bitch who has just turned a year.  Very sweet expression, strong jaw with correct bite.  Well arched neck into sloping, well angulated shoulders.  She has a lovely overall shape.  Moved well.

A quality bitch but she just did not want to cooperate with her very sympathetic handler. She has a beautiful sweet expression, nice clean head and well placed ears which she was very reluctant to use.  Good reach of neck and a lovely shape.  She was beautifully presented.

A beautiful blue merle with the loveliest of heads.  She has neat ears which she used constantly.  Correctly shaped eye and stop giving the sweetest of expressions.  Well arched neck and well angulated in front and rear.  This was demonstrated in her free, effortless movement.  She is well balanced and completely in proportion.  Her coat is of a lovely blue and of the correct texture.  She was presented in excellent condition.
2nd Walker’s Chantique Stevie Nicks at Starlenga
Another quality bitch who was not happy with her surroundings today.  She has the most exquisite expression.  Good reach of neck, well sprung ribs and depth of chest.  Slight rise over the loin and a good bend of stifle.  Neat feet and as her kennel mate, beautifully presented.

Post Graduate Bitch (4,1)
1st McCarte’s Gloryway Cinderella For Monsolana at Roughrigg
A lovely s/w bitch with a clean wedge shape head, clear parallel lines from all angles and correctly placed stop.  Sweet expression and well placed ears which she used well.  Great arch of neck leading into sloping well angulated front.  Again, as with all from this kennel, she was presented beautifully.  Moved with drive.  Her overall profile won her this class today.
2nd McClelland & Brotherston’s Willowdene True Ebony at Alauna (IKC)
Another lovely bitch but I preferred the overall shape of the winner today.  She has a nice clean head with well moulded foreface.  Nice dark, almond shaped eye and well placed ears.  Well angulated front and rear and a lovely shape.  Moved out well.  Coat beautifully presented and her handler got the best from her at all times.
3rd Melvin & Jopson’s Starlenga all Saints at Nithview

Limit Bitch (4,3)
1st Proctor’s Cathbri Evita
Although alone, this lady stood and showed well.  Clean head and a sweet expression and used her ears well.   Good reach of neck, spring of rib and depth of chest.  She has a nice fitting coat but perhaps just lacking in furnishings today.  A lovely shape and moved ok.

Open Bitch (5,1)
1st Blaikie’s Kourika Karrizma
For me, she was the star for today.  I just loved everything about her.  A tri colour with the richest of colourings and presented in pristine condition.  Nice clean wedge shaped head with a well moulded foreface.  Clear parallel lines from all angles with her stop placed correctly.  Dark, almond shaped eyes positioned correctly giving the most beautiful melting expression.  Neat ears which she used well.  Lovely arched neck into sloping angulated shoulders.  Good bone and muscle tone.  Well sprung ribs, good depth of chest, well bent stifle and powerful, well let down hocks.  She moved effortlessly.  Altogether, a quality bitch with a lovely shape.  It was a pleasure to award her BB and finally BIS.
2nd Corney’s Yenroc Fleur Di’Ecosse
A beautiful bitch, who has a lovely head and a sweet expression.   Very alert and attentive to her handler.  Well arched neck and good angulation both front and rear.  Another bitch who moved effortlessly round the ring.  Her coat is a gorgeous shaded sable which is of the correct texture and presented beautifully.  She just pipped the beautiful graduate winner for RBB.
