DARLINGTON CH. SHOW – 13TH SEPTEMBER, 2014

ROUGH COLLIES

Darlington Ch.Show 1979 was my 1st Ch.Show appointment.  Thanks to the exhibitors for giving me such a lovely entry.  I was splitting hairs in some classes. Presentation was excellent.  My hands were still clean at the end of the day!!   Short two piece heads were penalised, as were dirty teeth!  I was very pleased with my winners

VETERAN DOG 1
1.  KELLY’S PELIDO KIND OF MAGIC.  Upstanding 8yr. old tricolour. A true black with full white collar which was sparkling.  His head handles well. Excellent eye giving the desired expression and neat ears.  Stood alone in this class.

MINOR PUPPY DOG. 3 / 1a
1. TIPPER’S TIGANLEA TOO GOOD TO BE FORGOTTEN.  Clear gold sable with full white collar.
Just 6 months, but stood and showed like a veteran. His head handles well. Just enough stop and ear carriage good. Must be a pleasure to own such a happy soul. Balanced throughout, on good legs and feet, standing foursquare.  For BPD had to give way to the more mature Puppy Dog.
2.  SCOTT’S ANIESH LEGEND IN BLACK.  Very raw tricolour who was not on his best behaviour.  Quite a lot of brown tinging in his coat.

PUPPY DOG 2
1.  RYCRAFT’S  KYNAN SILVERSHADOW AT RYDELLSKY.   10 months blue merle, full coat which is of the correct texture.  His head handles well, balanced, with just the right amount of stop.  Sweet eye and expression and neat ears which he used. Moved soundly.Should have a bright future. BPIB
2. HULL’S LIZMARK MORNING GLORY.  Rich golden sable,  immaculately presented. Rather fine all over and not so steady as the winner.

JUNIOR DOG  7/  1a
1. SHIPP’S TREMARO CATCH A STAR.  Well grown clear golden sable with full white collar and legs.  His coat just gleamed.  Pleasing head, balanced, with just enough stop.  He covered the ground with ease, keeping his shape on the move.  I understand this win gives him his J.W. well done.
2. SLATER’S DANFREBEK DOUBLE ‘O’ SEVEN AT STANLOX.  Well presented shaded s/w.  In good coat and condition. Moved very well but head is not for me.
3. COONEY’S JOPIUM STOLE MY HEART AT LINGWELL.

YEARLING DOG 5/  1a
1.  BOYLE’S BARRENCLOUGH MOONGLOW.  Golden sable/white, well presented and shown.  His head handles well with sweet eye and expression. Well placed ears which he used. Moved very well.
2. HOLT’S ERJON ENERGISER AT LEEMANWAY.  Beautifully presented Tri.  Good rich black and ultra white markings.  Correctly placed eye giving desired expression.  Just enough stop. Moved soundly.
3.  MELLISH’S DEMELEWIS MOONCATCHER.

POST GRADUATE DOG  6
1.  SMITH’S ALDERMEADE ALEXANDER.  Golden sable/white. Won this class on presentation.  His head pattern is not for me, but he moved very soundly and showed well for his handler.
2.  HOLLINSHEAD’S STARLYN THE GHOSTBUSTER.  Blue merle I have always liked.  He has a lovely shaped head and when he uses his ears, the expression is soft. He has a good coat of correct texture.  Didn’t want to try to-day.
3. MAKEPEACE’S LYNAIRE CHASING THE STORM.

LIMIT DOG  10 / 1a
1.  HULL’S LIZMARK GOLD STANDARD. Clear rich golden sable with white markings.  I have liked him since puppyhood.  His head is balanced, with just the right amount of stop.  His eye shape is good and correctly placed ears give the expression I look for.  Enough featherings to complete the picture.  I would just like more of him all over.
2.  JONES’ ERJON EBONY JOKER.  Another favourite of mine.  His black coat gleamed to-day and his whites were “Daz white”.  I love his head. No sign of coarseness here.  Level planes all through.  Sweetest of eyes and his good ear carriage can only enhance his expression.  He really scored on the move, covered the ground with effortless ease on sound legs and feet.
3.JEFFRIES AND ALEXANDER’S CHANTIQUE HOT TODDY AT DEORWINE.

OPEN DOG  15/  2a
What a super class this was. Oh, to have had more cards!  I was really splitting hairs.
1.  HASSOCK’S CAMANNA COTTONPICKER.  3 ½ year old tricolour I have admired since puppyhood. Profuse coat of correct texture, although not so much you couldn’t see his lovely shape.  Balanced, he stood foursquare on good legs and neat hocks.  Good level topline and arched neck.  His head handles well, no coarseness here, with rich tan and well filled foreface, eye set to die for and ears where they should be, what more could I ask?  Then he moved!  It is a joy to watch.  So effortless, he covered the ground with ease, striding out well and holding his lines as he went.  Couldn’t deny him his 1st CC.
2.  FRYER-CLARK,STQANLEY & EVANS BEST KEPT SECRET AT VONARKLE.  Clear golden sable I have judged before, and did not disappoint to-day.  Not a heavy coated dog but he has enough and was presented to perfection.  Balanced throughout, with good level topline and reach of neck.  His head is clean, with just enough stop.  Correctly placed ears and sweet eye giving the desired expression.  Moved soundly both ways.  Unlucky to meet 1 to-day. Res.CC
3.  HODGES’ JOPIUM HEART AND SOUL.

VETERAN BITCH  8/  2a
A lovely class. What a pleasure to see these ‘old ladies’ again and all looking so well and enjoying their day out.
1.  COONEY’S EMRYKS MISS ELLIE AT LINGWELL.  At nearly 10 years of age this lady still looks good and never put a foot wrong.  Clean head with just enough stop.  All she wants to do is please her handler.  BEST VETERAN

3.  TAME’S RAHLISSA AIN’T MISBEHAVIN.

MINOR PUPPY BITCH  9
1. BOYLE’S MONSOLANA BUTTERFLY BLUE OVER BARRENCLOUGH.  What a sweetie.  At just 7 months she took my eye immediately. Shapely blue of the correct colour with nicely broken black markings.  She stands well with level topline, well laid shoulder and reach of neck.  Moved well on neat legs and feet.  Her head shape is good, balanced with alert expression, sweet eye and correctly placed ears.  Won this class easily & BPB but had to give way to the Puppy Dog for BPIB on maturity.  Her day will come.

PUPPY BITCH  4
1.  MONSOLANA BUTTERFLY OVER BARRENCLOUGH.

ERJON ELIZABETH ARDEN.  My  star of the day.  Pretty blue merle of lovely clear colour with nicely broken black.  Full shawl collar & white front legs..  She is balanced throughout, with level topline which she kept on the move. Well laid shoulder and reach of neck.  With this conformation she can do no other than move soundly, and she did.  She covered the ground effortlessly.  Her coat fitted her frame with plenty of frills.  Her head is beautiful.  No sign of coarseness here.  Nicely rounded muzzle and good underjaw.  Her eye set is perfect and with correctly placed ears gave me the expression I was looking for.  Her neat ears just where you want them made a pleasing picture.  She was good from all angles.  Could not be denied this class and CC and BOB.  Wish she were mine!
